What is Mr. Lapu-Lapu 2011?

Mr. Lapu-Lapu 2011 is a local male beauty pageant-cum-physical competition in search of the MODERN-DAY HERO.

A beauty pageant promoting TOURISM, CULTURE and ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS and searching for the man to become the male image of the first-class, highly-urbanized city of Lapu-Lapu.

A physical competition makes this pageant unique. This is to determine the “hero” capabilities and strengths of the contestants.

*** This contest is a replacement of Miss Gay competition which brought criticisms from churches and so with local residents.

Who is Mr. Lapu-Lapu?

Mr. Lapu-Lapu is a person holding an admirable asset in face & physique. He has progressive opinions toward social issues in accord with earlier ideas. Most importantly, Mr. Lapu-Lapu is a man of exceptional quality & strength, who wins admiration by ROLE, VIGOR and MORAL DEEDS especially deeds of courage.

Pre-Pageant Night

Last November 22,2010 – The search for the modern-day hero began at Lapu-lapu Auditorium as they unleashed the Top 16 official candidates.

Elorde, the grandson of Filipino boxing legend Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, received a unanimous decision loss to Houston representative, Angel Rodriguez. Rodriguez garnered scores of 40-36, 40-36 and 39-37.
