Philippines Election 2010: Types of Vote

The judgment day is fast approaching, as of this writing, there are only four days left for every Filipinos inside and outside the country to think, evaluate every candidate and decide to whom to vote. And part of the Cebu Bloggers Society’s initiative for this upcoming Election, the program iVote, iBlog” caters information drive to everyone, provides them enlightenment regarding the issues, political and community concerns especially on this season of suffrage.

So as a voter, what should we consider in voting? We must first choose God in voting and choosing our Government Officials, remember they will lead the country – we choose them to lead the country and do services for the common good. In choosing God, it doesn’t mean to put God in the ballot paper but to consider our conscience and instinct if that specified person fits the position. Since we are talking here about Voting and Votes, for me there are three types of Votes, and what are they?

Paid Vote

A much understood terms, paid vote is the rampant issue concerning every election here in the Philippines. Are we satisfied with that single peso or bill in return for our vote? Our vote can change the history; it can contribute to the candidate in winning the position. We must not tag a price with our vote.

Mercy Vote

Are we choosing that candidate just because of mercy? Just because he has gained the people’s sympathy, you will then ride in for popularity and other nonsense stuffs? If this is the case, same with this type of vote, pity on you. Again, think, think, and think to the nth power —- no to mercy Vote.

Intelligent Vote

For me, this is the Vote we must take on. Intelligent not because you are a professional or you are working in the office, it’s intelligent because you think before you vote. You think what the capabilities are and abilities of that candidate for the position, is he really the best person? You think and think and think, evaluate and then Vote.

This is just my personal view base on the experience we had. The experiences that I hope we may change in the near future. On Monday (May 10), remember, not just think twice, think to the nth power, evaluate those thinking, choose God –  pray and Vote.
