Kenneth Cobonpue: A world-class Designer

September 06, 2009 [Saturday] – Eleven Cebu Bloggers Society members were able to respond to the one of a kind invitation from the world class industrial designer, Mr. Kenneth Cobonpue, to witness and experience his works at Hive showroom at KC company. The tour started mid in the morning around 9-10 AM and was headed by the company’s Marketing Officer, Sylner Lopez. We were introduced to the different industrial works or i may say furniture works inside its three different part of the Hive showroom.

The showroom was filled with lots of contemporary furniture showcasing from Chairs, Tables, Sala Set, flower vases, Lamps, Bed, mirrors and others. It was very obvious that in every works he has, it has a touch of Nature. Let us say for example, its different types of Lamps, some of them are being styled from Clouds, from broomstick, from Halo and from Pendant. In addition, all his works are made up mainly from Natural fibers and materials like rattan, buri, bamboo and abaca.

My top Picks:

1. Kenneth Cobonpue 100cm C U-C Me Pendant Lamp.

It is made of woven wire ducked in Salago fibre with fiberglass diffuser. It provides a well-modulated light distribution, thus it is designed mainly to big spaces rooms and is recommended for restaurants, hotels, clubs and shopping malls.

2. De Luau Lamp

It is completed and paired with another kind of De Luau lamp stand. The best part of this design, it is made basing from the filipino’s tool in cleaning and KC has expresses his love to the Filipinos through this design.

3. Dragon’s Tail Floor Lamp

It is made of paper and is skeletekaly build with some iron support and amazingly, it provides a romantic shed of light in rooms most specifically in bed rooms.

4. Voyage Bassinet

It is like a baby cradle work and is very eye appealing which is mainly made up of high-end rattan. The rattan used to make the cradle is hand tied around a steel frame with transparent nylon filament.

5. Noodle – Loveseat with platform

This is made up of stained rattan vines and are handwoven and tied over a frame mounted on an oak-veneered base. The furniture under sitting category is available in two colors, Bronze and Mocha. This is already being used by Ms. Cebu 2008-2009 candidates and for the information of everyone, Kenneth Cobonpue is a proud Cebuano.
