CITE 1st Scholars’ Nite and Charity Dinner

Last Saturday, November 29, I got the chance to attend, participate and support my Alma Matter’s first ever Scholars’ Nite and Charity Dinner. It was held at Talamban Leisure Center or TLC, Malubihan Talamban, Cebu City.

ABOUT THE EVENT:
The first CITE Scholars’ Nite gathers two categories. First, the scholarship grantors who are always supporting and comforting the poor but deserving Filipino Students who are studying at CITE for technical course. They are the persons behind those successful CITE graduates who are now regular workers, professionals, managers and even CEO of their own business.
And secondly, this event gathers the good Alumna of CITE who give back what CITE has given them in three years stay. They share their blessing in terms of money or any ways that could help our brothers who are still striving for education and future success on their own fields.

THE JOY OF GIVING:
Yes, I bet all of us know that there is Joy in Giving. This topic was the talk being prioritized in the said event. Prioritized in the way that Scholars who attended were refreshed that Giving is not just a front to acknowledge you as an individual or to be famous but a charity work and is the result of sanctification of your daily work. As one of the speakers said, the great person who give, is the one who shares what he has now but not the one who give what is excess in his wealth. As what Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

HOW TO SPONSOR A SCHOLAR?
There are many ways to do good deeds to everyone. And part of it is to give assistance to those who are in need, and this can be done in many forms, such as sponsoring meal and transportation allowance to scholars, board and lodging (because many or most of the students of CITE came from remote areas, provinces and even from Mindanao), and most of all through financial assistance to defray the cost of education. This money you give is not just a HELP to them but a BROTHERHOOD LOVE which they will cherish forever and be remembered by your NAME. And CITE will do everything so that your hardships, endeavors and efforts will not be taken for granted but be awarded in terms of quality education, spiritual formation and moral uplifting to scholars. Because CITE does not give fish so students can live for a day but teaches them how to fish so that they will live for a lifetime.

At the end of the activity was the awarding and giving of certificates, gifts and token to Scholarship grantors, Scholars and to the respected Speakers. Generally, the event was not more particular on the Joy of EATING but it’s the JOY of GIVING.

Me as an alumni does hope and believe that CITE alumni who failed to attend such memorable event will take their way to help back CITE students, participate and support the 2nd CITE Scholars’ Nite which will be held on December next year.

Way to go CITE- Scholars! More pictures of the event will be posted soon.
