Cebu HobCon is a success!

June 20, 2009 – Saturday: Mandaue City marked the first ever Hobby Convention in Cebu which was held at Parkmall ground floor. Toy displays were showed, lots of games for Teen and young especially level up games which is positioned in the other corner part of the mall, the most exciting part which everyone is attentive to is the Cosplay.

Cosplay event was divided to several categories, this includes Kids, Female, Male, Group and Crossplay. I was one of the judges on that time and was quite amazed to the costume that contestants wore, most specifically to the brave ladies who have joined, special mention to our Cebu Bloggers Society, the newly selected VP-Head of Content Committee, Agnes who have joined wearing a Nun character.

One of the part of the Jury was Kara Mae Noveda of TV Patrol Central Visayas and was able to do some chit-chats, sharing ideas about the event (eventhough, i just really don’t have experience in judging like this contest), and take some pictures. When i asked her, what can she can say about cosplaying, she said “fun, more on fashion, its just nice to know that Filipino are adapting Japanese culture” and what was your last character years back at UP when you did your Cosplay “I like Sailor moon and school girl the like, actually i was Sailor Mars” she ended with a smile.

Despite of some technical glitch and emcee’s silent gap, the show still went through. I did not like the way the male host spell out those words, i bet he was swallowing them back…
