CBS Gives Back

And if you think this is another Happy-Product-Review post, then you are wrong.

June 14, 2009, Sunday – The Cebu Bloggers Society in cooperation with the Barangay Umapad officials kicked off with our first ever Charity work for the Umapad Fire Victims. A week ago, one zone in the said barangay suffered for a calamity that everyone did not expect to happen, as i say dreams are shattered but now hope is coming.

The Donations and Packing

I am very blest to be part of this wonderful undertakings with my CBS family. More than 15 cebu Bloggers have joined the event. Each of whom have donated money (I would thanks Sinjin for his wonderful heart, God will bless you for that) , used clothing (not to mention the two bags items of Aika, great work buddy), Rice and others.

As we arrived at the Barangay Hall, Guada, Prince and I went to the Barangay Captain’s place for coordination and then headed to Tita Gwapa to purchase the donated money for a sack of rice and other goods. After that, packing took place. I saw happy faces while doing the filling of cups of rice inside the plastics, preparing some used clothes, and bundling the said items into one which is ready to share.

The Fire Victims

More than 25 families were given the opportunity to receive our little gifts. Bad stories and experiences during the fire were unfold. I have talked with one of my schoolmate back in CITE years, i felt the sadness they are having now.

Even in a not good mood of weather, the CBS family still continued to shower their blessings to the poor victims. Lot of sacrifices were witnessed and experienced by the group but regardless of those, a good heart still managed to set in.

Ako Mismo

On this the same day, I managed to distribute the Ako Mismo Dog Tags to the people who ventured to join the event. Also, i would like to special mention and thanks to Fjords Allego for the purchase and shipment of the said items there in Manila, Thank you buddy!

Ako Mismo as I understand is a social advocacy undertaken by us, what we can do for our community even in simple and small ways as long as it will enhance and lift up the people’s emotional, financial, moral and physical factors in life. And i do believe, what we have done at the Umapad Fire Victims expressed a lot and did fulfilled in our commitments towards our fellowmen regardless of status in life.

The Wet Outcome

I felt sorry to my colleagues who got wet after the event. As we headed to SM City Cebu, a very hard rain fell which made everyone in the backseat wet but it never gave a bad and temper to everyone for we treated the rain as a blessing from heaven as a return of what we have done.

At the end, we enjoyed one’s company and have given ourselves a satisfied dinner at Bigbys SM. Laughing and story telling filled the room especially when Atty strikes its one of a kind jokes.
